Living Room Blinds

Thank you to everyone who commented on the kitchen blind remake post and a great big "Hey There!" "Howdy" to everyone!  Thanks for following!

We spend a lot of time in our yet-to-be-structurally-renovated Living Room; to make the room work, I'm constantly changing it; and though I live in the country - in a farmhouse - I'm constantly drawn to "city" life and homes.  (Think Country Mouse visits the City Mouse and thieves all City Mouse's great furniture & accessories; after asking politely, of course! :)

These two living rooms by Jenny at Little Green Notebook, are my inspiration:

Our Living Room below:  Phase One:  Add blue drapes.

The brown (very-functional-block-the-view-of-a-road) blinds were quickly installed 2 years ago when we "moved in" to the renovated part of our house -and I took the homemade roman shades out of this room and burned them - someday, I'll show you why!
Phase 2:  Cover functional blinds with faux roll-up blinds which I mentioned here; & change out some accessories.
I love that little radio cabinet (wouldn't it be cute painted with mirror behind the bottom panels?).  For now, it loves this spot in the house and holds the kids' games.

The drapes are made from sale sheets.

The "faux roll blinds" are made from thrifted fabric:
Hem at the edges; glue to the valance on the existing blind;
add 2 loops of string and roll, baby!
The Love print is from The Brooklyn Limestone.
My favorite detail...the "wrong-side" of the fabric rolled up at the bottom;
the hem at the side (and the light that filters through in the evening!).
Though there is no end to the amount of "phases" of this re-do...
That really is masking & duct tape covering parts of the old farmhouse "front" door (which we have never used as a front door!) and you can still see my "handiwork" patching the holes I routinely seem to make on the paneled walls.

The unfinished chair below has yet to tell me what it would like to be; and I'd love to paint and slipcover many of the pieces in the room. (This is where my husband tunes me out and I turn to you, in Blog-land!)

So, thanks to the inspiration found on your blog, I keep workin' at it!  Your blog inspiration keeps this Country Mouse occupied during long winters...and muddy springs!  Thank you so much!

Only one more day to "Make It Marvelous" in March!

Tomorrow, our Entryway updates...stay tuned.

  3. Love the colour scheme of the room. Light blue and white makes the whole space airy. Plus, those lovely Roman shades—it's totally gorgeous. Please keep sharing your thoughts especially with regards to home improvement.
